Periodontal Treatment

What is it?

Periodontal treatment can vary from simple scaling and root planning to surgical treatment or gingival recontouring, depending on the severity of the case. It becomes necessary when the accumulation of plaque and calculus leads to infection beneath the gum line. Unchecked, this periodontal disease could result in the loss of teeth and bone, and will certainly cause bad breath and an unsightly smile.
